INSPIRATION
The Best Videogame Soundtrack award celebrates something most players feel but rarely articulate. Music is half of what makes games unforgettable. Spotify's partnership with The Video Game Awards was a chance to honor that.
The concept of trading cards naturally bridges gaming culture and music fandom. But these couldn't be ordinary print. They needed to feel rare, premium, and worth keeping.
The Spotify team saw an opportunity to transform a promotional handout into a tactile, holographic artifact—something guests wouldn't just receive, but treasure.
PLAN
With a quick turnaround and a live-event deadline, precision was everything.
Whitestone partnered closely with Spotify's In-House Creative Team to translate their designs into a fully realized physical experience. The brief called for three distinct batches of card packs, with three cards per pack. Each card featured a Spotify artist who had created a Spotify Single for the TGA partnership, with all packs destined for guests attending The Video Game Awards in Los Angeles on December 11, 2025.
This was a moment-driven activation. Timing, finish quality, and durability were non-negotiable.
PRODUCT
The final deliverable was a set of limited-edition holographic trading card packs designed to feel like rare drops. Each pack included three foil-enhanced artist cards with high-definition print reproduction, dynamic holographic light refraction, and a professionally sealed Mylar pouch.
The holographic treatment added movement and depth, transforming static artwork into a multi-sensory experience. Under stage lighting and the energy of the event environment, the cards shimmered, mirroring the spectacle of live performance and gaming culture.
This was collectible-grade production.
RESULTS
Distributed directly to guests at The Video Game Awards, the card packs became a tangible extension of the campaign, bridging digital streaming culture with physical memorabilia.
The project showcased Whitestone's advanced print capabilities across specialty foil and holographic applications, precision registration for layered finishes, custom small-format collectible production, event-ready packaging solutions, and high-quality output delivered at speed. When timelines are tight and the finish must feel extraordinary, Whitestone delivers work that stands out.
